Even with a bolt in sprag with the stock number of roller
will break... the ultimate super sprag is said to not
blow.. mainly due to the number of rollers in it

I wouldn't trust that for a minute, even the super sprag can't stop that.

Tony that is the result of a blown sprag and I can tell you that the super sprag has 4 more rollers in the same space and would be hard pressed to roll over and fail.

it is really a ford C-6 sprag and I have seen very few of them fail over the years and the mud truck guys beat the hell out of them.

I have heard that, but I wouldn't trust it. at a minimum a shield of some sort.

Dan Glad your atleast can walk I was in other lane ready for my burnout .Besides your foot a chunk just could have taken your head off or punture your heart .
i have the ulimate sprag and a shield .BUT a steel drum will go in this winter .
Many will say that they raced for years no problem .
You race more in one year guessing 300 plus pass's between 4 cars . .
Good luck hope you will recover fast and still want to race .

probably not in that particular saddle....

Went through that same ordeal with a friends Challenger that was probably on a high 10 pass. Engine had been set back 6 inches and it had a tin floor in it. This was long before internet, and us not being local to a track were oblivious to the possibility of a trans explosion even occuring. After the autopsy we're quite sure the 8.75 gear let go first shocking the overunning clutch. When the drum broke it wrapped the tin floor around his right foot/ankle. Dents in the roof, wiped out all his Autometer gauges, and a chuck was stuck in the drivers door panel. He never went to the doc, but had a limp for a long time. After that all our torqueflights have had blankets. Personally I'd rather have the blanket than the TSC sheild as the blanket will absorb energy, but with the "rules" we'll be running a sheild.....might have the blanket over that if I can stuff it in there.
