I've asked my share of dumb questions and I've gotten ton's of help. I have a new one.....tired of leaking 727 in my 65 Coronet so I replaced a bunch of seals, orings and bushings for the shifter linkage, park linkage, etc. Pretty much everything I could handle without having to spend a bunch of money. Had valve body out to get access to the top side oring. Great news, so far, no leaks. Unfortunately, I now have to drive backwards everywhere I go. Not sure what I did but now all gears are reverse. Put it drive and it goes backwards, put in 2 and goes backwards. Reverse goes backwards. Park seems to work but I can feel it try to move backwards when in park. It's original shifter, original 65 trans. Hope someone knows what I did.

The shift cable probably isn't connected to the valve body. When you pushed the cable in to connect it did you pull out on the cable housing to be sure it was connected?

With the cable adapter pushed all the way in you have Reverse.
