I saved a 91 shortbed from going to scrapyard, everything but an engine. transmission and underhood complete. What year engine can I use with this harness and computer. I think it was a 318 and froze this winter so it was running not long ago. Thanks.

for plug and play another 91 d-150 318 from the JY

any of the tbi roller cam 318 enegines should work.

I pick up 88-91 TBI-318 roller cam engines to trans plant into older trucks.

right now I have a 91 318 with a hughes whiplash roller cam/93-NV4500 5 speed in my 85 stepside. awsome little 318. but no worky with a 91-TBI/PCM

I did just pick up a 800$ 88-d150 with a older engine swped into it..the PCM/wireing was removed and they splide in a VR along with a ECU/elect dist.

so that is an option if you want/have too go that way.

it is not that hard to splice/by-pass into the intank fuel pump to run a regulator with a return line at the carb.

then splice the VR plug/VR into the harness and mount it on firewall. then wire in the mopar eletc ECU/dist.

do you have all of the brackets/alt/ps pump/pullys to go on it?

Most all the parts were left connected or in the bed, but I really won't find out what's missing until another engine goes in.

Does the transmission need to keep the computer?

If its a auto with OD then yes, but if its a 3spd auto then no.

There are also work arounds that will allow you to manually switch the OD on. I believe in the tech section off the moparts main page there is a couple of old examples of how to wire an OD up without the electronics (or at least without the full harness swap).

I thought I noticed a small bundle of 3 or 4 wires pulling off the harness and dropping off at the trans tunnel but I've not been under there to see where they go.

If it is towards the back driver's side of the tranny it may be neutral start/back-up lites wiring.

Any 91 from Dakota or van or ramcharger should be ok with this harness?
