HI, I CANT GET THE KEY OUT OF ACCESSORY POSTION. KEY WONT COME OUT BUT IF I PUSH DOWN A LEVER/ARM ATTACHED TO THE END OF THE COLUM IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT I CAN GET THE KET OUT. ONCE I TURN THE KEY TO THE OFF POSTION SOMETIMES I CANT GET THE GET OUT AGAIN AND THE /LEVER/ARM IS UP?. SEEMS LIKE IAM MISSING A PART OR SOMETHING.
I HAVE A BUICK GRAND NATIONAL AND HAD THE SAME PROB BUT ITS A DIFFERENT SET UP. SORRY FOR THE LONG MESSAGE BUT ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED . THX PETE

I'm sure it may be missing the linkage after all these years, but you should be able to twist(counter-clockwise) the lowest part of upper steering column housing to get the same results as the under hood trick.

Hi, thanks for the reply.

I thought maybe I was missing something and yes when I pushed the arm all the way counter clock wise I was able to release the key. but it moves for some reason and it starts all over again where I need to move the arm to get the key out.

what is the linage part I need called?
I was going to post a pic but for some reason wont work

Your missing the interlock linkage, this is a 1970 only application, you can either contact Brewers performance or several other vendors for used/repro linkage/pcs, or fashion your own bracket/rod assy to lock the arm located at the base of the steering column to remain fixed, so that you don't encounter this issue again
