There has been some disagreement as to IF/When the discs became standard. I say that it was never standard. I've been pulling parts from junkyard cars for many years and have seen front drum brakes on Darts as late as 1976 models. I even owned a 76 Dart Swinger with a 225 slanty, a 904 and 4 wheel 9" drum brakes. Given that these cars are very easy to swap parts around, I had this possible idea: A disc brake a body blows and engine or trans and sits for awhile. A person buys the car for its disc brakes while swapping drums back on it to keep it from being immobilized, then sells the whole car to someone else. This could have happened, but I can't see it accounting for how many drum brake 73, 74, 75 and 1976 cars that I have seen with 4 wheel drums. I recently bought 2 Dart Sports. One is a 73 with discs and the other is a 74 with 10" front drums.
witha slant 6 and LIGHT DUTY suspension, they got the drums, offered up wuth HVY DUTY suspension it dot disk brakes, at least thats been my findings.

Disc brakes were always an option (73-up) and always large bolt pattern (73-up).
