I bought this truck last year with the intention of getting the 360 engine out, getting the front winch bumper off, and taking the rear axle assembly ( Sure Grip) and then parting/scraping the rest.. It is an 81 Power Ram with some nice options such as factory am/fm/CB radio, power windows & locks, a/c, cruise control, full trim interior, turbine wheels, and 4 speed. The bed of the truck is totally rusted away but after further inspection I noticed the floor pans and cab are solid as a rock. So between it ,another 85 model parts truck that I have, and lots of extra parts ,I have decided to find another bed and fix this truck up for my 14 year old son..

thank you

your son will thank you also.

I am having a hard time trying to decide on keeping/parting the sweet 88 2x swb truck I got for 800$

I know we cant save them all but you gotta try to save some of the better ones for sure.

the mid 80s truck are coming into their own now and are drying up fast around here. getting pricy on stuff as parts. getting so you have to buy a complete truck to get parts it seems.

good luck and post the fix up build with your son. I know I like to follow along.

I think the hardest part will be the roof skin. This one is dented up pretty bad. I replaced the entire roof skin on my 70 Duster but this looks like it will be more difficult. Has anyone ever done this on a truck? I cant see how to get to the spot welds( if that is what holds it together)on the backside at the top.

We have been pretty busy with the truck this week.. We got the bed removed and most everything in the engine bay removed. I am going to have to replace the core support and driver side inner fender. Good news is I have these parts available on a good parts truck.. The plans are to go back with the original Midnight blue, all new interior, some sort of black wheels with some 33" tires, and keeping the four speed in it... I really like the color combo and think it will look nice when done.. Will be adding progress pics soon...
