Most have slop in them.. as to a 1/4" that is a bit much... time for a collar on the shaft to keep the timing tight(as the intermediate shaft moves up and down the timing changes)

Mr p would be right,old MP electronic with tach drive. Think it's time for a Firecore distributor & wires

If the timing is jumping around then yes it could cause a miss... with a 1/4" of vertical movement the intermediate shaft would be turning a FAIR amount and it would be hard to say what the timing is at any given point.. yeah it might be time to get a new dist unless you feel like rebuilding that one... but if you dont use the tach drive why bother(and I dont see a cable hooked up to it)

Have not used the tach MANY years Time to replace and I think Rich has a great product It might just be a lean pop,but until I get this rotater cuff back in shape,I can't even get in & out of the car

Sucks getting old... I had both shoulders rebuilt and had 1 done again... yep it sucks getting old
