The Grand State of Confusion-O...
Customer has a 66 Coronet R/T with a 440. Has a race AFB on it now that doesn't even come close to fitting properly and works even worse.
He wants to find a rebuildable carb that will fit as far as kickdown linkage and throttle cable.
What am I looking for? Carb number?

No such thing. RT started in 67. If a 67 you'll need to know which trans and if California or not.

Not sure if he is looking for originality, or functionality. Even if it is an automatic, You could run the 4326 or 4327. I would skip the Calif. carbs personally. But honestly, I don't think there is anything fundamentally different about a 66 that would require something different than any 440 factory or aftermarket replacement square bore carb.

Again, if you want the correct number you'll need to figure out exactly what he has.

There's nothing at all wrong with the CA carbs. As far as what will fit and look stock, here you go;

Ebay 67 440 Carb

Right. If that is what he is asking.

Just found out it IS a 67.
Customer doesn't care about originality so much, just needs one that works.

Thanks guys.

edelbrock Mopar throttle adapter #1481. $9.97 at Summitt. There's an AFB #4131S for $100 in the for sale section here which iirc is correct for a 66 HP 440. I have 2 of em (4131S) on a dual quad "B" single plane '58 iron intake going on a 451

Technically speaking there was no "HP" 440 in 1966, just the "TNT" 440 for the Chrysler 300's etc. 1966's were a very different engine as compared to a 67 HP, smaller port heads, low rise intake, log style exhaust manifolds, etc. made the first year 440 basically nothing more than a bored out 413. The 4131 carb was the same one used on many of the mundane small valve head/LP 1966 383/413/440 engines, there was nothing "HP" about them in the least.

So, while the 4131 carb will work fine, a correct 67 carb (both being in stock form) will be a better unit more suited for a true 67 HP engine. An Edelbrock will also work fine but be sure to do a price check before just ordering a new carb, used originals rebuilt/restored are usually competitively priced and will always be worth more later if you decide to sell.

Alright, Yeah I goggled it for some more info & it came back with '66 383/325 and dodge 440/350 and plymouth 440/365 but moot points I guess since his is a 67. Not sure how my dual quad 4131 setup will work/turn out but it sure looks good
