With my 69 Road Runner with a 440 with iron heads and a 727 column shift automatic trans. So I am going from a stock Chrysler dual plane iron intake, and a Holley 750cfm Double pumper to a Holley Street Dominator intake and a Carter Thermoquad 850cfm. What I need is a photo of how you hooked up the throttle and trans kick down lever (727) on the intake, when I hook it up like the stock one was with the brackets under the intake bolts, it does not seem to line up properly?! Can you guys running a Thermoquad and a Holley Street Dominator single plane intake on a 440 show me how to get things hooked up correctly, and what air filter setup your able to fit under the hood of your 69 Road Runner. I have hood clearance issues using the thicker gasket recommended for the thermoquad too. Thanks, Jay

Is it a chrysler thermoquad with the Chrysler throttle lever ?

How about a picture of your problem ?

Not trying to sound like a tool, but keep the Holley .

6pacmac, I understand your comment. While it is to help, it doesn't help what he is trying to do. Help the man out with his project. Dispite your opinion or knowledge on the matter. (Have you done what he attempts?)

Sorry, no pictures. I use the Lokar cable set up. There is a catch though. You'll need to fab a small plate to bolt onto the throttle arm and use the existing holes to secure it. Make it in a diamond shape and drill a hole in the bottom for the Lokar trans kickdown cable.

I'm used to doing this set up on a small block and manual trans car. It has been a long while since I have done this on a automatic trans car.

If i remember the Holley is taller than a stock intake and you are going to find your cables too short and the throttle bracket does not fit correctly on the intake and might have to find a longer cable and maybe different throttle brackets!
Maybe something along this might help and try a cable kickdown if yours does not work.

I have thought of doing this too. I am using a M1 intake. The thermoquad pushes the factory kick down. The Lokar needs pulled. Does anyone know the correct distance from centerline of the throttle shaft to down where the cable would attach. If I remember correctly Bouchillon Performance makes an adaptor plate to do what you need.

I don't know if any of this might be of some help.
The issue I ran into was that the different setup moved the linkage up, forward and out towards the drivers valve cover quite a bit.
I modified the stock linkage and bracket to fit. It wasn't too difficult. Cable was too short so I made a simple extension. The bracket that bolts on the carb linkage is off the shelf (Mopar adapter from Edelbrock). The throttle cable and kick down bracket was flattened on the bench vise to make it reach higher and over. The kick down linkage was straightened a bit and is installed from the outside-in at the rear pivot point, effectively moving it out towards the left.
It works perfectly and its easy to adjust, strong, simple and looks almost stock.

Turn that rod end around 180 degrees in the bell crank , the spring should be straight and not crossing anything .

A thin (.060) sheet metal cut in a diamond shape will do the job. Drill two holes to match the throttle arms holes. Use a nut and bolt and a lock washer to retain in the small hole, the throttle stud for the other.

Down at the bottom of the diamond sheet metal plate drill another hole to match the Lokar attaching hardware. Adjust the cable as needed. Exact placement of the hole to match the factory location is not needed since the cable is adjustable and comes at a length that needs to be cut to fit your specific ride set up.

Can't, it hits the throttle cable retainer nut. Still working on that little issue.
Thanks JohnRR

Well I have the H.S.D. intake and thermoquad installed and I love this setup! Had my friend Charger Joe over and we got her tuned and running great!

Just an aside, there are few sounds nicer than a w.f.o. Thermoquad on a B.B.Mopar with a reasonably quiet exhaust. If I ever build another non turbo combination, it will be a 4.25" stroke 400 with a 1000c.f.m.Thermoquad and a half quiet exhaust.Love the sound of a carb. pulling birds out of the air.as it opens .
