Hi
I need to order longer studs for my mopar 8-3/4 I believe the threads are 3/8 x 24 but does anyone know the stock length of them. I put an aluminum center section in but the studs are not long enough to put washers on them with the nylon locking nuts that I have.

summit has these from arp
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/arp-250-3005/overview/
but they say its for a ford are mopar the same studs.

Specifications for arp

OAL 1.645˝
Thread Size 3/8-24
Pieces 10
nuts, washers included

No need for lock washers with nylock nuts. They call them locks because they lock.Only place they cant be used is high heat apps.Rocky

Hi

not lock washers just regular thin flat washers otherwise the stud doesn't stick past the nylon part of nut
I may just switch to regular nuts

the stock steel nuts are a crimped/dimpled lock nut

you can get longer studs from Moser or DrDiff.

that'd be my suggestion. k.i.s.s. unless there was a compelling reason for me to switch to something different. EDIT Sounds like you are wanting to protect the alum, you otta be able to get a real real thin metal washer (shim) to take care of that & still give you enough thread engagement (any more than flush is a waste)

If you remove any of the stock studs from the stock housing make sure and use a really good thread sealer on whatever fastener you put back in I didn't on one stud that got push out on my Duster, it was one of those 4 below the gear oil level, it leaked of course, 3 times I ended up having to use thread sealer on all the studs and nuts that where below the gear oil level The stock rear ends came with flat copper washers that must have acted as a thread sealer from the factory
