My wipers won't retract under the hood. They don't appear to operate erratically though. Hoping to avoid taking the system all apart. Any quick diagnosis/suggestions are much appreciated.

parking basically.
I remember there was a detailed website on how to check, but the basic thing that worked for me was cleaning the contacts in the switch.

I took off the back and scrubbed the area where the switch makes contact as it had corrosion on it.

you must test the switch grounded. don't hold it and try to test it.
you get a bit of a shock and it doesn't work right.

Will they park if you hold them up a little, or help them? If they are catching on the trim piece then there is slop on the pivots somewhere.

2 or 3 speed? 71 Charger should have had a concealed two speed on it rather than the non concealed unit and if it's a 3 speed it should be clocked on the switch plate for an E body, not a B body. What's the PN on the motor?

If you look at the switch plate/gear housing cover there's a timing nib on the left side between 9 and 10 oclock. Check where the switch plate is clocked against the FSM page I've posted? (I'm assuming we're talking 3 speed, if it's a 2 speed let me/us know?)
