Well I wasn't going to start naming names but I feel I must some of you may Know me but most don't I have a 68 Barracuda that we race at Gateway in St.Louis, I recently took our car to Andy McCoys chassis shop in Washington MO. to have a new k-frame and steering column installed, I could have taken it to Jeffers Chassis or Bickels or any other of the many great shop here but I took it to Mccoys, he came off as a great guy and I said so to who ever would listen, I was a little concerned and flags start going up when we brought new wheels for proper set up, and was shown a huge area of flaking paint missing on my front fender and was asked did you ever see this really but being a fan of Judge Judy I could not 100% say it was done at his shop $ 400 will fix it right up, next he shows me my steering column same one just secured differently ??? I said we talked about a new column? " oh " he said that will be a little extra cost also starting to smell something?? Got the call car finished, We go to shop I admit everything looked nice I paid for extras loaded car on trailer and back to our shop, car stays on trailer in shop, First T/T of season at Gateway we are hyped about new motor new set up, pull car off trailer do a quick spin around and up to lanes,1st hit of season easy burn out and easy launch mid track car goes into violent tire shake at 120 mph I was able to get car stopped and back to trailer We called McCoys they don't touch anything bring it back on Monday. We notice all nuts/bolts that held strut together and on were finger tight no lock tight no cotter pins, we pointed this out to McCoy at his shop and left car, 2 hours later we get a call come get your car which we did on arrival my car was sitting behind his shop unattended like trash, We load car up called Andy while we were leaving and asked why he did what he did, fast forward to this past Saturday T/T at gateway great turn out we pull car off trailer drove it around a bit added Trans Fluid and to staging lanes, 1st run from repairs line lock wasn't working light burn out and stage medium launch everything seem good just have to figure out line lock, we start to pull wheel off to get to line lock all my lugs are red lock tight took a 1/2 hour and threads to get off called Andys Shop talked to his father I get o really sorry did car go straight, 10 minutes later lock fixed back to staging lanes, good burn out went pass lights kinda screwed me up and I rolled out very soft launch I start going into tire shake again tried to stop car and then complete wheel, strut, brakes everything breaks away from car ripping my fender to pieces and destroying strut and recent work. We called McCoys while on track waiting for flat bed, We didn't get a are you ok we get told you so. Any one that knows me or has seen my car knows I don't skimp on parts and if a chassis shop would have said Do not drive car until you get repairs done that car would not have been driven. If I knew how to post photos I would maybe you could face book me.

No kidding................Physical visits lead to jail so you may need legal advice here if they don`t make it right AND if they do, I`d boycott them and never deal w/em again........
Thanks Guys I have spoke with Attorney, I have face books text from McCoy after expressing my concern that I was for the first time apprehensive about driving car,he said"Its a 100% fixed take it easy and check after run. I spoke with him a hour ago he said he wasn't responsible and basicly admitted using lock tight on studs he would replace studs he said. I know there is 2 other mopars in shop now a Pink R/T Challenger and a Blue Charger, hate to see them tore up also. Andy claims to be a Christian and follows God I not and would never treat a customer like he did.

Did it say on your bill that there were any issues that should be addressed by the car owner

I bought my Dart from a guy who ended every email with " God Bless " , so I figured I could trust him. I was working in Afghanistan at the time and had the car shipped to my house before I got back. He didn't ruin my beliefs , but I'd never lie to a stranger like he did and I am a horrible sinner.

Great Point No he did not, My attorney said same thing, and that's a point I mentioned to McCoy if you thought strut were bad Why not just say so I would have replaced no problem.

Strut was installed a few years back never had a issue with strut at all, I think I had 40 passes tops on them, McCoy had to disassemble strut to install new strut arm to rack, I believe 2 things happen the first time out we had violent wheel shake, possible weaken main bolt that runs through strut arm into strut hold everything together, 2nd being the jerk he is and having malicious intent over tighten the bolt weaken it more. my theory. In any respect if a shop thinks a strut is bad just say so.
