Yeah once you get your metal ready put some self etch
on it then use your high build primer

Epoxy primer is the better option, IMO. It seals the metal from moisture, and is the ultimate sealer coat to block the existing paint from reacting with the new paint.

I always use a sealer after all the work is done
(bondo and primer) before spraying the color
