Went to go swap out the caliper lines on this 72 RR and the previous owner rounded the edges off with what I assume to be vice grips or an open end wrench. I can't get my flared nut wrench to grab on to anything. I have been soaking them with PowerLube all day. I know we should be replacing them, the whole set if like $149 from InlineTube. Can I take a mini torch to the flared nut and heat it up to crack it loose with vice grips or am I better just cutting off the whole section and replacing it. I can assume that since the fronts are like this, the rears are probably just as bad.

Ive heated them at work to get them off.Just have to be careful that they dont get too hot.I also work them back and forth to get them to turn.Usually the flare nut rusts on the flare and thats why they wont come out.I have lots of experience as in the rust belt frozen parts and the norm.If its the hoses you can also clamp a good set of vice grips on the flare nut.Take the clip off the hose and back the hose off the nut instead of trying to turn the nut off the hose. Then when its off work it loose and use a bit of anti sieze before install.Rocky

I second the anti-seize recommendation. I'll move the nut back on the line and anti-seize the line where it goes into the nut. Then I'll anti-seize the nut threads. Sparingly. This is one case where if one is good, two is better, and three is about right does NOT apply.

I was able to purchase individual lines from "The Right Stuff" instead of buying the entire set.

6Pak you must have rust issues out there too. Here its a daily thing.I even antisieze my bleeders when I put them in.My buddy that got me using it buys 10 or 20 pound cans at his fab and machine shop.He works on a lot of farm and oil well stuff. So it goes quick.Rocky
