I'm started to make plans to rebuild the 230 in my '57 Belvedere. I'm aware of VPW and Kanter. Does anyone know of other sources for engine parts? Just wanting to know my options. Thanks!

Not sure why this thread was moved. My car is stock - certainly not a street rod by any stretch! Could this be moved back to General or Q&A, please? I'm sure that anyone interested in street rods would ditch the 230!

Thanks for the reply, Gene. I actually work part-time at NAPA. Unfortunately, not a whole lot is available anymore (but you're right, some stuff is). I was kinda hoping for a "kit", but all I've found is Kanter, and reviews of their customer service seem to be less-than-stellar.

Egge. I used them a few years ago when rebuilding my buddy's 1937 Chrysler Marine flathead.

They sell kits for some flatheads, but not the 230. Thanks for the suggestion, though.
That figures. Good luck with your search.

Almost all of the engine parts are available at rockauto, just not in a kit form. oldmoparts.com has parts too, no kit, with some parts rockauto doesn't have and other parts that may be cheaper. Kanter and Egge are way overpriced. BTW, since no one would hot rod a 230, Offy sells a dual carb intake, Summit stocks it http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ofy-2691/overview/make/plymouthNever assume

Supercuda - I think you misunderstood. I know there are "hot rod" parts, but like I said, I'm doing a stock-type rebuild.
ahy - Yes, I've gotten some parts at NAPA...water pump, etc. Unfortunately, many of the engine parts are not available from them. Believe me, I would get everything there if I could, having an employee discount.
Thanks for the input, everyone.

I think you misunderstood that some of us on the street rodder section do run the flathead 6, just pointing it out was all.
