Only if you have a mullet.

Now if it was a Firebird...

Nope, you have to have one currently. I had long hair in the 70s and 80s, but no pony tail.

I hope you say this in jest. Why anyone would drop $75K on this car is beyond me, when anyone could buy any number of other cars for less money that would outperform a new Z28 - i.e. a used C6 Z06?

Well, I'll have to think on that. I had 8 tracks. I didn't get cassettes until the '80s. So, yes, cassettes are fine.

Plus I like a car with a back seat so I have a place to throw candy bar wrappers and empty chocolate milk containers when I'm driving.

Next new car I buy I think I'll drive it to the local car audio place and get them to install a cassette deck...that should be good for a few laughs....the Z28 would be perfect as it is a radio delete car...

Once I asked about a cd and cassette player combo. I guess they don't make those anymore.

It said the Z-28 beat the GTR on the track? The times looked pretty darn close to me? Impressive machinery just the same. How they they compare cost wise? I cringe and the cost of a brake job on that carbon fiber set up? To bad Mopar can't/won't step up to the plate?

If you look at the Z28 from a track car perspective, it is a beast, nothing NEW will run faster around the Ring for $75K. 99% of the $75K pro touring cars wouldn't beat it around the ring either. Certainly one could modify a late model Z06 to be faster for less money, but that Z06 beats every single new car made in a $$ vs track time battle. Now I'm a Mopar guy who bought a new Mustang because I don't have 75K, and for $33K total I have a slightly modified car that can do 95% of what the Z28 can do, but as a guy who likes the track, I would jump on that Z28 if it ever depreciates to where I could afford it...

Its basically a ZL1 with a 2010 Zo6 engine with some aero tweeks. Not saying it isnt a fantastic car, but I think my Dart will hold its own against one in every catagory except creature comfort.

Mopar to the bone!!!

The Z28 is a little bit faster than the GTR but I bet it was due to the difference in tires.
The GTR has 255/285 run flats while the Z28 runs 305 Trofeo R tires in a square setup.
They are both pigs at 3800 lbs.

I have the same trans and final drive as the Z28 though, I am going in the right direction

I cant see how a 505HP 427 Vette wouldn't be faster in every way than a two-ton Camaro with a bunch ov tricks on it. No matter what you do to that Camaro, it will never be a true race car. If its even close, then put the same tires on the Vette and see what happens.

I'd love an LS7 Vette.

Yea the tires are the key to the Z28, I know GM tested a 2012 ZO6 at Nurburgring on race tires and it was a bit faster than the Z28, but the test time for the Z28 was also done on a colder almost wet day.

The Nissan GTR with AWD is even heavier than a 2014 Z/28. That car only has a V6...........

I want to see what Ford comes out with after the next generation Mustang is introduced. What will a newer version of a Boss Mustang be capable of?

It's OK to want whatever floats your boat. That said, when I look at the new Z28 or the last Boss Mustang (2013?) and see the price...I think I'd personally rather build a 2nd-Gen Z28 or '69 Mustang FB or an E-body 'Cuda to be similarly capable. I'd bet that for less money I'd have something way cooler, better looking, and I enjoy the build experience.
That said, there's the instant gratification that a big checkbook provides if you mainly want to be on track in a few days. But even then, I'd be looking at a vintage racecar.
