I am getting my '78 core support ready for swap into my '85. I noticed today the hood latch mounting is different between the two. I have a manual latch for the '78 which I though I wanted initially. Now I am thinking of using the remote hood latch, but they are different between the two years.

So I guess my main question is, did they make a remote hood latch for the earlier core supports? And if so, what years can I use.

72-80 was available with inside hood release but don't know if it is the same as 81-up. Cable may be the same but I would think the latch is different.

I guess I need to find a pre 81 inside hood latch, and then hopefully my cable will work.

My fix

The top of the core support is not the same. The latch is totally different. Not really sure if the cable would bolt on in the same place. All looks similar but it's not. I'm surprised the safety catch still was the same.

Yea, I did not realize until I was getting into this project after 8 years finally, that the top of the core was different between the two in the latch area. I am just going to go with the manual latch I have now for the older support, maybe later on I will try and find a inside release. A PO had already put the bird bath hood on, but it looks like they really fubbared up the '85 hood latch to get it to work. It's always latched and I always planned on the core swap so I never worried about it.
