I've got a 2004 Ram with a Hemi. The truck has 32,000 miles on it. A couple of weeks it started stalling when I come to a stop. If it does not stall the rpm's drop to 300 then it will idle at around 500 rpms. It starts immediately after this happens. It does it when the truck is cold and also when it is hot.

I have an extended warranty from Mopar so I took it in. The tech said there were no codes. He followed TSB18-013-05 and reprogramed the PCM. It still did the same thing. He checked the wires from the PCM to the throttle body and they were fine. He replaced the electronic throttle body and did a re-learn. He said it worked fine.

I picked the truck up and the next day the same problems returned. I took it back to the dealer and once gain they said no codes. They said I need to take it back when the problem comes back. I told them it was doing it when I drove the truck in for the second time. They will work on it some more.

Does anyone have an answer for my problem. I don't think the tech that is working on it has a clue. Could it be a bad fuel pickup since it only happens when I come to a complete stop. The truck does it whether the tank is full or half full.

I would appreciate any help you can provide.

Raul

Thanks for the replies. The tech found another bulletin that said the stalling could be the result of low tranny fluid. He checked and it was low (over a quart). He filled the tranny up and the problem has been solved. I would never have thought of that.

Its ture low trans fluid/filter not sealed to case will cause stalling. Lockup convert comes on. Esp on 45RFE Was trans recently serviced?

It got new fluid and a filter 2000 miles ago, but didn't start acting up until 2 weeks ago.

Raul I'am pretty sure you have the 45RFE trans, if so you might want to check the trans filter neck for a crack or the seal has come dislodged from the pump. It is not recomended that this seal be replaced when you pull the filter off.But if it did drop down your sucking air not fluid, which can cause the TQ lockup to engage(at idle)Seal is tap into the pump.

Thanks for the information. I drove the truck quite a bit yesterday after I got it back from the dealer. I even towed the race car. No problems at all. This morning I drove it and the same thing happened again. It stopped great the first 5 times, but on the 6th time it died. It ran fine after that. I will bring it back to the dealer again and they will let it sit overnight and test it the following morning when it is cold. This time of year cold for us is 45 to 50 at 8:00am. It's 75 in the afternoon.
