Never built a SB before and so haven't paid ANY attention over the years to whats out there for them. The idea is to put a 5.9L Magnum/4-speed in my 70 Challenger. Aside from spendy stuff like TTI, whats out there for headers that wont get crushed? Also, whats out there for shorty headers that work well and dont cost $600? The engine will be a stock junkyard 5.9L w RPM intake, and probably a Whiplash cam. But down the road the plan will include aluminum heads and more compression. Car will have no power steering or other options to get in the way.

If you've got $2-300 kicking around to lend me then i can afford the headers i want. No money here, no credit. I dont want a $125 header, but $600+ is out unless you want to help.

That website was next to useless for me. Dougs for under $400 sounds good though. They make nice stuff. I didn't know Doug's went over the steering though. I dont need coated headers.

Too easy. Hookers huh...??? I know Hookers flow, and they can be cheap, but i'm still pretty turned off them from my big block/72 Charger experience... I dont have power steering however.

They do fit pretty good, but you need a hell ov a motor to use them. The tubes are too big for a stock type motor. They are 3/4 inch from exhaust port to collector. Kills the bottom end if you have a pretty much stock motor. Check the small block for sale section, or maybe A-body parts. I think there's a set ov brand new Dougs 453's on there with one dinged tube. If they fit an A-body, they will fit an E-body.

But now i wonder how much engine i'd need to really utilize them. I am putting a decent-sized cam, RPM intake 5.9L Magnum in there, with plans to mod further along the way. 1 3/4" does seem big, but then again, this engine should be relatively close to a stockish 383 and that would love a 1 3/4" header... Should be around 320HP to start with, though all done by 6000rpm. Another thing is this will be a light car and a stick. 3000-3200lbs... so torque needn't be ridiculous. Saw those headers already, though before i knew i needed them. Too bad they'll be gone before any money comes around for them. Grrr...
