Upper door paint code is 5X8. From what I've found that is 'charcoal'. Wondering what correct color/color/formula would be.

Would the dash frame/steering column suede black ( textured ) be the same as the 5X8 ?

My demon has the same code, I think that code is used when you have the hood paint treatment, the upper door is pretty much like the hood black and not charcoal like the seat could have had in it if you have the charcoal inserts. My dash has a bit more gloss, and smoother than the upper doors but maybe that's due to the sun. I think non j54 demon without the hood blackout had gloss black

Although my car is coded that way I guess a previous owner went the gloss route. I used to have a real good picture of the 5X8 door frames from a low mileage car and I really didn't like the look myself.

My demon is coded for J54. But not V21 hood treatment. Also, this car was a low budget brawler. 340-4speed but manual brakes and steering and E2X9 interior.

So, would the 5X8 be close to the dash paint? Or just a low sheen version of TX9?

I think if it's coded for j54 it got the hood paint, but not sure 100%, I'm sure if you ordered the car a dealer could note no hood paint. I know I noticed this on the v21 dusters the flat black would go to the top of the doors and on those cars I noticed the door tops painted same as the hood. I think the dash should be a little more like a satin. My car was painted in the late 70's but the interior wasn't touched

Mines a j54 but no v21 on the fender tag, the hood was/ is blacked out/

Well, car is FC7 and coded for white side and rear stripes. My inner door and quarter paint is like a 'charcoal' color. Need to get a good look at them.

Makes sense if the hood treatment was black or white the upper door paint not being glossy.

Do you know the correct paint/mixture for 5X8 charcoal?

I'm guessing it's the same as the hood. It looks and feels like the hood anyway.
