for most of us, the gauge decals are what is normally done. sand and paint ur old steel gauge faces flat black and apply new decals.

for calibrating, you can get resistors from radio shack and wire them in series with the ground (sensing wire) of the gauge while powering up the cluster (cluster removed from car) make sure to power up the cluster through the transformer. you can then calibrate the gauges with two little wheels that are visible through two small openings in the back of each gauge. pretty easy to do and will cost you about 3$ in resistors from radio shack.

Go to Radio Shack and buy these resistors.
271-1101 10 ohm
271-1103 23 ohm
271-1109 150 ohm

Just attach a short piece of wire with a small alligator clip on each end to a single 10 ohm and 23 ohm resistor
Take two 150 ohm resistors and put them side by side and then attach the wires with clips.

The jumper wires are so cheap you could make three of each and have all your gauges testing at the same time.

The LOW position is 73 ohms
The MIDDLE position is 23 ohms
The HIGH position is 10 ohms

Temperature gauge
The L position should read 120* on the dial
The M position should read 170*~180* on the dial.
The H position should read 250* on the dial.

Oil gauge
The L position should read 0 psi on the dial.
The M position should read about 30 psi on the dial
The H position should read 80 psi on the dial

Fuel gauge
The L position should read empty on the dial
The M position should read just under 1/2 on the dial
The H position should read full on the dial

check the attachment also.

Are these resistors good for E body rallye gague clusters? Just curious, don't they make a resistor close to 73 ohms?

anyone know where you can get a noise suppressor, as shown in the photo?

OK, hang on and I'll dig out my invoice;

Ah, here it is;

Calibrate small gauges, rebuild speedo, reface gauge cluster, odo wheel, polish lens, brake system lens. Total $515.00

* Note that this was two years ago and your cluster may require more or less work than mine.

sorry, can't remember the turn around time: probably best to phone them on that.

Cheers,
Dave

Oh, I forgot to add, I didn't have autoinstruments do anything with the tach - bought a repop from Charger Specialties.

I don't remember. just seemed easier to wire two 150's to get 75.

Did you say what the guages were going in? I'm part of a group buy at instrument-specialities.com on a different website, cuda-challenger.com

$550 for complete ebody resto of guages only, includes stamp refacing.

I think they do all styles though.
