Trying to pull the canister off my Cuda steering column, and i am afraid to put to much pressure on the puller. How hard should this be to break free? I seem to be reefing pretty hard.

I use the two threaded bolt holes at the center of the hub at the bottom of the can and a harmonic balancer puller.

When you remove the nut on the end of the shaft you will see two small threaded holes next to the shaft end. There is a 3rd hole for the horn wire that isn't tapped. They have to be long and preferably grade 8 bolts if possible. If the puller starts to walk off of the end of the shaft put a nut on the end of the shaft and only run it down about 4 or 5 turns. Not enough to keep the can from coming loose but enough to hold the end of the puller's center bolt so it won't walk.

It will be tight but it will pop loose.

to all the above + when you have a good amount of pressure on the center puller bolt, take a piece of hard wood or plastic and place against the head to protect it and give it a good sharp rap with a small hammer. Not a big sledge but a small ball peen; 1 #er or less. The shock will often break the splines free.
