Im trying to see if a first gen durango 9.25 will bolt in a 2wd first gen dakota. Ive looked in fsm's and no measurements are given. Could somebody that has a durango measure spring perch width and possibly post it? Thanks in advance.

I can offer this, the 96 and earlier Dakota used a narrower rear diff than the 97 up. The 97 up was about 4" wider at the hubface.

The 98-2003 Durango uses the same rear diff as the 97-2004 Dakota in the reading I have found.

I found much of this on Dakota forums while searching for measurements to use to determine which of the B body 8-3/4 would fit best.

My 2k 2wd axle was longer on the drivers side. Some are centered like 4wd.

Thanks, looks like I'll be figuring an 8.75 in my plans then.

Does your Dakota have the 5 lug wheels or the 6 lug wheels? 6 lug wheels will limit what you can swap, unless your going to deal with changing stuff, a 91 and newer Dakota, and all Durango's will have 6 bolt wheels, and there are no 8 3/4 axles that had 6 bolt wheels. Gene

I have a 66 B body 8-3/4 under my Dakota, with 6 lug axles. Wasn't hard to get them. All the original brakes, and drums, etc bolt right on.

What axles did you use?
