I recently replaced the original brake master cylinder on my 69 Coronet R/T with a remanufactured unit after it had been determined by my local brake shop that the original was too pitted inside and could not be rebuilt (at least by them anyway). Should a person keep an original part like a brake master cylinder or just turn it in for the core? I realize that if its junk its junk, but maybe there are other brake rebuilders that could save the unit. Just wondering before I chuck it. Thanks

If it is indeed the correct original one for the car, you could always have it stainless steel-sleeved and use it again to be matching and all..

It is a relatively low mileage car that has been off the road since about '72. I am pretty sure it has to be the original master cylinder. Thanks for the info Oz. I guess anything can be rebuilt if you spend the money and can find someone to do it.

There was a thread a little while back about who does the sleeving I just can't remember off hand who it was...but a great way to go if you want to keep it correct. If it's just a 'driver' car, you can just use the parts store rebuild on it and keep the original one boxed away for now
