Okay, I am in the process of converting a 70 cuda to a 71 and want to make sure I'm gathering the correct parts. Here is what I have so far.

-71 complete grill assembly
-front valence
-front valence insert
-front parking lights
-rear tail lights
-fender gill weld-in inserts
-duel headlight buckets
-header panel (I believe the one I have is from a 72)

Here is a list of things I believe I am going to need that I don't have
-front headlight wiring harness
-hood/latch support
-grill mounting hardware

What I need to know is what the difference is on the header panel between 71 and 72-74 and how to get my 72 panel to work? Also, I have a number of extra hood supports, I just need to figure out what the difference is between the 70 and the 71-74. And finally, will a 71 headlight wiring harness plug into the existing bulkhead plug on the firewall? Or will I need to modify it?

I'm sure I will be coming up with a lot more questions, so any help is appreciated. Thanks

Your header panel can't/won't work, you need to get a 71. Also your fenders won't work either, you need 1971 fenders too.

when you say headlight buckets..you know you need the bracket that is welded to the fender too..other than that I think you are good..you do need a 71 header panel..dont forget the fender turn signals on top are different if you are going that way too

The headlight cans I bought from AMD come with the brackets I believe, unless you are referring to something else that I am unaware of. I am deleting the turn signal indicators, so that wont be a problem. As for the header panel, I know there is a difference between the 71 and the 72-74. I've heard from a few people that the 72 can me made to work, but no one seems to be able to tell me what the difference is and how to fix it. My brother has a 71 Cuda, but he restored it 13 years ago, so he cant remember. If I get desperate I may have to remove the grill from his car and try to find the difference.

I think I have a couple of extra 71 header panels in the garage. I can take some pictures. I'm not sure if they are usable they both need a lot of work but you can probably use the center section to convert a 72. PM me this afternoon so I remember.

The darker blue colored header panel in the picture is a 71 - the light blue one is a 72-74.

To turn a beautiful '70 'Cuda into '71 you need only one thing.

I need a header panel for a 71 also. I've got a nice 72-74 panel if anybody wants to trade.
