So are the screws holding the release lever on supposed to be black, or chrome-ish??

In this earlier post it is suggested that they should be shiny.

Factory parts were phosphate finished. The latch release to radiator grill brackets bolts were 1/4-20 x .65 hex head SEMS bolts with paint cutter and pilot point and the screws were either #10 - 14 OR #10 - 16 x .58 Lg. pan head phillips
