Can a guy cut the bottom off the bell on a 727 or will this make it week?

Sorta like a GM trany.

You have too if you run a Milodon Super Stock pan and want to put the covertor bolts in. I cut it back about 1", between the two lower cover plate bolt holes. Use a hole saw in the corners to make a nice radius, then remove the rest of it. Never had a problem.

I have relieved mine also in a similar way but I wouldn't recommend hacking the entire bottom off like a GM trans. They were designed that way and still crack from time to time.

I was wondering if they crack, GM has a flange cast in that I'm Shure helps a lot.

I cut mine right off at the bottom, similar to a GM trans, but radiused more. Hutch does this with a lot of his 727's (I have a 904) to gain access to that area and to diagnose leaks a little better, and he recommended I try it when my trans was apart.

I am glad I did it, and it will be something I do to every torqueflite I build from now on

That's exactly what I wanted to do.

Nice to know. It would be nice if the Milodon catalog mentioned this.
