Installing a engine plate and getting rid of the solid mounts.

Is there a advantage to centering the engine?
I think from factory there set a bit to the right.

Just looking for advice.

Factory body's have the drive shaft tunnel offset. Most axles have the pinion offset. Offset aids steering clearance. Add to that every door car I have weighed is heavier on the drivers side. I'd leave it offset.

If your playing with a stock frame car you would be
better off leaving it in the stock location left and
right... but now you can raise it or lower it depending
on how it transferred the weight before.. most engines
were off to the right to give the driver more foot
room since he/she is the important one in the car..
most were about 1" to 1 1/4" or so to the right
EDIT
The one thing you would give up is that the car will
torque up on the drivers side which in that case
having it farther to the left does help

Chrysler drive train offset:At front crank centerline-2"+- at trans output shaft-1.750"+-,pinion off set 1-3/16 +-.These numbers can fluxuate for clearence issues. Most mounts(engine and trans) have slotted holes for adjustment and the spring center pin has a little slop. The offset is to the passenger side.

I used to kind of get tired of people telling me that I had my motor in crooked on my '62 Savoy. Now I have an A-body and there is not enough room around the motor to notice the offset in it,,but the offset is still there!

The engine and trans in my chassis car is offset 1/2" to the right for starter clearance.
