I am sure this has been brought up before, but what is the best way to identify an aftermarket converter. Grabbed one off a transmission a guy was junking, its a 10inch so i know its not a factory unit. The guy could not remember any of the specs other than it was on a pulling truck with a 440 and only used for 2 pulling events. Fluid looks clean and new. numbers on it 7174 10490R 1420

It looks like a TCI number to me. I would contact them and see if they could tell you what stall and application

Thanks, will do that today. I did find that they have a old P/N listing of 142000 that says it is for tractor pulling/ monster trucks, but can not find any specs on them at all.
