Anybody put an aftermarket modern radio in a 68 B Body? Want to swap out the dead thumbwheel radio for something newer. I have seen the single DIN faceplate but mine is woodgrain and those are black. Looking for picture of how you mounted it and any install advice.
Thanks in advance!
i don't have pictures but it's easily done. it's the cage that gets mounted not the unit. the unit just slides in and locks. then support it from the back. as for woodgrain, i haven't seen a single din made in that. that said, woodgrain vinyl kits are available to put over the black and just cut to fit

What 68 B body? Some B bodies had the standard dash, others B bodies had a ralley dash.. The radio trim plate is different for each..
Just my $0.05...

I have had quite a few aftermarket audio systems in my 69 roadrunner. I just made an aluminum cover piece and painted it black to hide the empty space around the head unit. I can post a photo if you want?

i'm not the OP but i'd like to see it if it's not too much trouble....

Looks good. I guess I should update mine as well. Last month I was able to get my new Kenwood installed fairly easy. Nothing was cut in the dash, and I was able to use the existing factory bracket in the back to hold this one in. Just a minor bit of fabrication. 2 6x9"'s were installed in the package tray, and a pair of 4" from Classic Industries were mounted in the factory dash location. My car is LOUD, so it seems like I can barely hear my new set up. I may have to change a few things down the road.
