I have decided to put a fiberglass hood on my 69 GTX. What company did you use for your car and are you happy with the results. I do not want a lift off hood, it must be attached as a stock hood, and I want a hood scoop. It must fit properly. Thanks

The companies I've used over the years on my own cars and customers for fiberglass bolt on hoods that I would recommend, keep in mind no fiberglass hood jumps out of the box ready painted and installs itself, there's always a degree of fit/finish, depending on your quality standards that will need to be addressed...

AAR Fiberglas, they are now owned by Stinger, Stingers product line is "OK" meaning...good to so-so, but not great by any means, I don't know how AAR's quality may have been affected by the Stinger purchase?

VFN Fiberglass
US BodySource
GlassTek
Unlimited Products

Companies to avoid:
Showcars, pure crap
Stinger...50/50 shot on quality
A&A
Harwood
WS Racing, great when the Dad ran the bis. but Jr. has run it down quality and delivery wise

I'm near AAR, for an extra $100, Allen painted my T/A hood.

We bolted in on and I drove away happy, looks great.

As mentioned, he did sell the company, not sure how involved he is, but the molds are the same.

I have a bolt on from Glasstek. It's not perfect... dips down a bit in one area along the driver side fender. I'll fix it with some fiberglass work sometime in the future.

I strongly recommend you avoid doing buisiness with Unlimited Products.

No wait, let me re-phrase that... I VERY STRONGLY recommend you avoid doing buisiness with Unlimited Products.

I've never had any issues with Unlimited Fiberglass's service or their products, and I've been buying from them for about 3 decades

You are apparently one of the luckly ones. I had a set of 71 charger fenders which I stored for a year before installing them. Spend many hours getting them straight enough to paint. Then after a week in the sun, the resin "cured" telegraphing the mat through the paint.

You are the only one I found you seems to have had good experiences with Unlimited.

I used VFN for a glass E-body (Cuda) Six-Pack style hood. Not the cheapest but very happy with the finish and quality of the part. Customer service was good too. Packaging could have been better, but part arrived without getting damaged.

I bought an AAR 6bbl hood several years ago. So far, no issues. By mistake I bought the "bolt on" rather than the "lift off." No problems though and Ive got mine set up with all 4 hood pins for the lift off type.

It'll finally be painted this spring, and theres a few areas I need to fix. All my doing however, banging it around the garage.

If I had it to do over I would ask AAR to NOT mold in their logo (this would probably cost more) and NOT drill the holes for the hood latch HW.

Unlimited products (also called up22)
is not only complete junk but they have the worst(non existent) customer support.
They lied to me and cheated me.
I'm truly surprised they are still in business.

First let me correct myself. In my previous post(s) I said I had bought the VFN. In fact, I have a Glasstek and all my positive comments pertain to the Glasstek product.

Well, unless they've made a new mold I wouldn't touch the AAR. A few years back the corner of the mold got busted and the repair is VERY evident in the finished products. They aren't discounting the product either which, considering it needs bodywork right off the bat, just isn't right.

Most of the hoods (talking '69/69 Plymouth only here) regardless of whether they bolt on or lift off do not have a lip at the front edge above the grill like a stock hood does. The problem with this is that it now lacks rigidity and the hood will start to lift in the middle when air starts flowing under it.

Glasstek are the only ones who make their hoods WITH that lip. That was a major selling point when I bought mine.

The other area where most fall short is the fit around the headlight buckets. Take note that the stock hood has a nice curve around the bucket then a sharp corner where it transitions to the grill. Most look like they used an axe to trim this area. Again, the Glasstek is perfect in that area - partly due to the aforementioned lip.

What about Larry at Sled City ? My brother is getting a hood from him. He just ordered it a few weeks ago as it will be here soon as he was told 5 to 6 weeks as none were in stock. But I always hear good about his parts and he post on here. I forgot his handle but I think its Glass_man ? But I am not positive on his handle name. Ron

Went to the Glasstek site - no AAR Cuda hoods. I do need a nice hood for my AAR - who has the best one? I want an OE style bolt-on. My original one is going to need a lot of work.

Thanks, -Eric
