SECTION 20: GENERAL REGULATIONS, ENGINE: 1, 1:3 EXHAUST (Page 3) (2/18/2014) All cars vehicles must be equipped with exhaust collectors, headers, or stacks installed to direct exhaust out of car vehicle body to rear of car, away from driver and fuel tank. No part of the exhaust system may be routed through the driver’s compartment. Exhaust collectors/stacks system components must be securely fastened (i.e., metal connector straps, bolted, welded, etc.) to prevent loss of collector/stacks system components during competition. Effective Jan. 1, 2014, All removable multi-piece exhaust collectors/stacks must be securely fastened with either an NHRA-accepted header tether, or a minimum ˝” (half-inch) stitch weld located on each primary tube or be permanently attached to the vehicle body or frame with positive fasteners (i.e. exhaust hangers, support brackets, bolts/nuts, etc.) such that they require tools for removal. to prevent loss of collector/stacks during competition. A current list of NHRA-accepted header tethers is available on NHRARacer.com. Flexible tubing or “flex pipe” prohibited in all categories. If mufflers are used, they must be securely attached to exhaust system and car vehicle body or frame.Consistent with its endeavors to maintain drag racing’s acceptance as a recognized sport and recreation, NHRA is enforcing maximum decibel levels for Super Street, Super Gas, and Super Comp vehicles competing at national events. NHRA may enforce the same or similar requirements on other categories in the future.

what? no decibel checks on top fuel or funny car,oh, I forgot their not loud enough to bother anybody,what was I thinking?thats not noise coming from their zoomies,thats dollar bills............

Procrastination pays off again! YAY!! No 60-200 dollar tethers for me.


67 Barracuda street car, 408, e85, 1.38 60', 6.44 @105.9 in the 1/8 mile, 10.19 @130.5 in the 1/4...so far....

Honestly after I installed my teathers I like the idea... of course as many have stated, you can buy the stuff to make them at a local parts warehouse for probably 20 bucks. I know that's what I did when the clamp for the collector that came with mine was too small.

So a bunch of cars will slap on $1.50 exhaust hangers with bolts and nuts. Not only will collectors and mufflers fly off the extra hangers will be rolling across the track too.

They should have just stuck with Tethers or welds..
