I get 24 mpg with my 84 5 speed Rampage. Stock except for Weber carb and a 525 transmission. Take into consideration I rarely drive the car over 10 miles at one time. 8 miles to work, 8 miles home. It goes up a bunch if I take a roadtrip.

I am in the midst of looking for a carb for my Scamp, what is the best one to use? I see people using Weber's, what model?

Nice looking truck!!

That's pretty much my deal now....I drive 13 miles to work and 13 back and at the moment I do not have anything economical to drive so I am driving my V10 dually until I get my 2010 Challenger nose put back on and or I buy this Rampage I am thinking about....... I'm burning about 2-3 gallons of gas on a daily basis and at $3.00 + per gallon, its costing me about $10.00 per day for that short trip where as the Rampage would most likely knock about $6.00 per day off of my fuel bill.

If I had something else to drive right now, I would probably only drive the dually once every week or two just to keep the fluids circulating.....

P-boy ... me thimks you have POOR vision ... here is his quote .....

I got about 17-19 with my 85 Charger,

GET some NEW glasses ... ...

DON'T daily-drive for MPG (or fuel costs) ? ... must be nice to have a FREE gas-card.

I believe I read that he was "still in high school". I probably need new glasses, but it looks like you might need to stand in line behind me.

As far as the "free gas card", when a guy (like me) drives less then 5,000 miles a year, and nearly all of that is pleasure, the amount of gas I use doesn't amount to much, so a couple extra (or fewer) mpg isn't going to break the bank. My coupe gets around 17 mpg and that is having a lot of fun, if I work really hard, I might get it up to 20 mpg, but it would be a lot less fun. My last hot rod got 8mpg, I can see the difference between 8 and 17, and that mattered, but between 17 & 20 when we are talking 3,000 miles a year isn't worth the reduction of my fun. When I used to drive 20,000 miles a year it was a different story, but then gas was in the $1.00/gal range. Gene

mid 20's if your easy with it. The 3spd automatic is direct in 3rd and those early ones do not have a lockup TC. Carburetors on those things were garbage when they were rolling off the transport trucks. The non feedback version are somewhat better.

Fuel injection and a manual transmission really help the 2.2 with mileage.

I have a 4dr Shadow manual transmission (2.2 TBI) and I get around 27.5 in local stop-go driving. Ethanol polluted gasoline doesn't help anything.

my throttle body 2.5 auto daytona would do low to mid 30s on the highway. my dad had an 83 rampage auto and his would do about 30. lousy feedback carbs, we swapped it out for a weber and it drove better. with the small tires and no lockup converters they do rev on the highway.

With the introduction of ethanol contaminated gasoline I have seen a consistent 10% decrease in miles per gallon vs pure gasoline. It also does not help that I still use the oem 14" tire size and have the 568 5spd with its higher final drive.

Open highway I can get low 30's but it is rare that I am going long distances anymore.

A 32/36 DFEV, Part No. 22680.160 is what I have. Put it on straight out of the box. Runs good and idles great. It is nice to have the same, perfect idle every time you stop at a light.
