I am considering a 1970 Dodge Challenger. It does not have the RT symbols on it and it does not have the hood pins but it has the RT hood. It was restored 8 years ago and I am wondering if the restoration was incorrect in regard to the hood pins and RT symbols:

Is the 383 magnum considered an RT or was that just a 426 and 440? The vin code is an S for special or RT and N for 383 magnum.
Did all the RT hoods include hood pins or was that an option?
The source I read made it sound like the pins were standard.
Thank you

For the '70 Challenger R/T (JS):
383 4bbl "MAGNUM" was the STANDARD engine
J45 - hood pins were an OPTION
& cars with the STANDARD side stripe (V6_) did NOT have "R/T" emblems on the fenders.

ok so just to be clear:
It should have the RT symbols but the pins were an option.

With any car code for a V9* bumble bee stripe or V68 stripe delete the R/T emblems should be present on the front fenders.

If the car is coded for any of the longitudional stripes V6* them the callout is part of the stripe itself.

My Challanger is a 340 Non R/T A66 car originally. I have added all of the R/T stripes & emblems all the way around the car because I wanted too. Lover the look myself over not having them.

Nice car. I agree the look is better. My goal is to educate myself so I can look at a car and have a solid idea what is correct for that year make and model. Thanks for the pics.
