Getting ready to install my 8 3/4 today. Quick question. I have 2 new axle flange gaskets for each side. Are these the only gaskets I will need for installing my axles into my differential?

Steel shim gasket between backing plate & housing. White foam gasket on the other(outer) side between bearing flange & backing plate.

Should be.

Now, there are inner axle housing seals that many recommend to change EVERY time the axles come out, but if you are careful each time and don't allow the splines of the axle to rub and tear these seals then they are usually fine. Put in a few drives and check for leaks

When the axles are going in or coming out you might wrap the splines with some black electrical tape to keep the splines from slicing the seals as they pass thru them.

On my '73 Road Runner I replaced the metal gasket between the brake backing plate and axel flange I think they were $1.5o each. I used RVT gasket sealer between the brake backing plate and the bearing retainer as I could not find a paper type gasket like came off of it. I also decided to grease my old bearings (which looked great) rather than replace with overseas bearings. I used a greasegun Needle to get in between the rollers. Be sure to ajust the bearing tentioner on the passenger side.
