Wondering what the real world MPG would be for a stone stock 83 CJ5. Stock size tires, gears, etc.

Looking for MPG in the 55-60MPH range.

16 to 18.

if you are lucky, no way it will EVER get 20mpg.

16-18 if you're lucky. I've got an 88 yj with the 258. worse if you do a lift and huge tires. I put an aftermarket carb and dist on mine. helped a ton with driveability, didn't help much with mpg.

On Mine with the aftermarket carb 16-18 mpg overall

But with the 4:10 gears and 33" it does NOT like the highway.
Really got to push it to do 65 mph. Likes the 40-55 range a lot better
