if you can find a car that you like and fits your needs it's always cheaper to buy rather than build

Doesn't happen to be Brian Panozzo's old Duster does it?

ALWAYS cheaper to buy one. Been there done that a few times. Building myself a new Top Sportsman car now. The reason being it is almost impossible to find a 6.0 cert Mopar that I fit in being 6'3" tall with long legs. Wish I could have found one already done but the few that were out there were IMO way overpriced. Considering I could buy the equivalent GM car for 20K less.

It really just all depends on how your fabrication skills are.

If you can do all/some of the fab work yourself. It could be cheaper to do it yourself. If you have to pay to have the cage put in, back half, etc... then it'll be cheaper to buy one done.

Plus if you do all the fabrication yourself, you better have 800 to 1000 hours of spare time lined up. If you are serious, a friend of mine has a Super Gas Duster with a 440 that he might sell, he hasn't had it to the track in 3 or 4 years.

Could sell you mine...Always wanted a tube chassis Cuda, but I got a back half Duster instead...Runs 9.90's on pump gas and will be ready for another season of racing very soon...

It seems its usually a better deal to buy one nearly done or previously raced than build new until you get to a certain point.

I bought my demon way cheaper than I could have built the 70 duster that I had so I'm with the rest of the crowd buy

71 demon stock stroke 440/indy ez-1 running 10.10 @ 132.14 mph in the 1/4 and 6.36 @ 107.46 mph in the 1/8 not in the same weekend but It did it then I sold it.
67 Belvedere that worked it's way in the 10's

Just did an Alston Chassisworks roundrail chassis car like that for a customer using that very heavywall .134 tubing! 8.5 cert...without the motor or trans we had 22,000 in just parts.

AMEN.....My Roadster came with all the original build sheets and costs.....over $65,000 Rolling New....I bought it with less than five runs on it for $30K with everything but the engine.....

The deals are out there....try to buy during the off-season....once the racing starts the prices tend to go up
