Sounds like a healthy motor if it's pumping that much compression w/ the 509 cam. Ought to run strong! That 509 cam makes real good power...I ran one for years.
The Edelbrock RPM intake is a VERY good choice. If you happen to run into hood clearance issues w/ it (it is kinda tall), get a Holley Street Dominator manifold. It's a short single plane and runs almost identical to the Edelbrock RPM. Even though it's a single plane, it still makes a LOT of lowend grunt. I've seen some cars w/ Edelbrock RPM manifolds under the factory hood and some that wouldn't clear. Just throwing that out there.
