A&B Automotive's Tiger Two altered car. As young aspiring dragracers, a lot of us spent a lot of time at Addcock's speed shop.

Fenner Tubbs Plymouths out of Lubbock were normal fixtures at Amarillo. Fenner's son, Tommy Tubbs, & Joe Smith ran the cars for the dealership. This is their 65 Stocker.

DOVER DRAG STRIP in WINGDALE,NY, closed in 1976.
shutdown was very short, stopping with drum brakes were real fun. many a time i almost landed in the swamp with my 440-6 cuda and my 340 4 speed duster. very cool track back in the day.

Top fuel dragster of Weekly, Safford, & Hampshire at Amarillo. Any one remember these guys? The Texas vs. California meets were the high point at Amarillo Dragway each year.

heres another video, there were some really fast cars up there, running in the 10's back then.
i had a killer 440-6 cuda which was a freak, ran 11.97-11.98 up there.bought all these direct connection parts from east coast speed and went from 12.20's to high 11's which was very good back in the mid 70's.

I was to young to race then but was taken to watch at Hyde Park in Newark, Ohio. It closed around 65' when National Trail Raceway opened.
It was one of the first tracks in Ohio.

I'm sorry, but I beg to differ,,,Hyde was still running in '69.. I raced there. Not trying to upstage you or anything, just trying to keep facts in their chronological order.

If you like drag racing, support your local track.

Here is me running in the last couple years that Warner Robbins was open.

With the closing of Warner Robbins a lot of the track equipment was recycled to Dolthan's dragstrip.

Vineland Nj. was these guys stomping grounds..

Budd Corletto,Bill Winterbergins, (John Fox )machine work Steve Kanuika

the text in the story reads like this (best i could tell due to blurry text)

An impressive arrey of chromed exhaust and injector stacks gets off this sharp dragster's buick powerplant. Budd Corleto and Bill Winterbergins decided to join forces on the car-building project. Both agreed the Buick as being the best choice for a powerplant and it took them no time at all to salvage a '63 mill from a local junk yard. Do-it-yourselfers from way back, they get in touch with a local steel tubing supply house and bought up a truck load of chrome-moly ??? stock. After the tubing was bent and welded, ??? and Bill located a chromed tube axle transverse springs, ??? ??? shocks and wire wheels on the front end.

With most of the chassis and suspension work completed, they concnentrated their efforts on the brawny mill. Hillborn injectors, a howards 190 cam, a high rev valve train, boxed rods, johns pistons, and a set of tuned headers broadend the output of the already potent screemer.

Bud's rig holds quite a few 1/4 mile records, with his best time being 169 mph, 8.48 seconds at langhourne. records in the 160 mph nine-second barrier are on par for the 1/4 mile course.
but these guys are changing those stats rapidly.

Future plans call for a direct drive stacked Buick mill with a GMC 6-71 supercharger and hillborn four-port injectores?".
Philadelphia-based railster trips the 1/8-mile clocks at 127mph in 5.44 seconds. Action photo shows Bud Corleto in the process of making a 150 mph warm-up run at Atco Dragway. Vertex-sparked '63 Buick mill gets a boost from Hilborn injectors, Howard cam and a .060-inch bore job."
The wheelbase was 96 inches and the trans was a 38 La Salle {second and third only} The rear was 40 ford narrowed with a 4.11 gear.
the engines machine work were done by Steve Kanuika...

funny thing is budd set all the records..but my uncle John was 110lbs lighter and ran one of the rails fastest mph's..If only a week before,,, it would have been a record..
Budd Getting all the records and the credit for being a good driver (deservedly so!)
but at the time my Uncle John would rib him cause with budd's Weight over the back tires...it got mUCH better traction...
