Trying to figure out why my vents don't fit the AC openings in my dash pad.
Some pics of E-body AC vents in the dash would really be appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks, that helps. Anyone else have some more.
Here's what I have, it's a UR dash and the vents just don't sit right.
Compared to posted pic, my openings seem to be off in depth and angle?

Are you sure you have Factory vents?

Yes, they came out of my original dash and fit like the pics posted above.
For some reason the shape of this recovered dash is off.

I was actually wonderng if the vents were wrong because the fit is so bad.

You just have to cut some material maybe in some cases to get them close.

I'm thinking even from the factory they were not perfect judging by that picture above of a original dash pad. Or maybe the sun has caused the dash pad to shrink and move around form 40 years of sun?

I have installed 2 UR dash pads, neither one was perfect around the AC vent holes. I had to trim padding the get my vents to fit halfway right. I think I have some pictures?

Here's what bothers me, I trimmed the h*ll out of both the vent and dash to get it to this point. You can't tell from the pics but there is such a large gap at the top you can see down into the dash. I just find it hard to believe UR doesn't test fit this stupid thing before sending out?

Part on left is factory pad with dash cap

Is there anyone else who can post pics of their AC vents?

I'm trying to figure out if I should send this back to UR for another.
There are several issues, but the AC vents bother me the most.

Just to figure out if how far off it is.

Thanks

Send it back and demand some quality control...Obviously it bothers you now and it's not going to get any better with age...I know I could'nt have something like that staring me down every time I look to the right...

Thanks for the help, it's pretty obvious to me now the opening is just right on mine.
I spent several hours trimming this dash, the light bar opening along with the AC vents.

But in my case the shape is wrong, there's too much material at the bottom of the vent and not enough at the top. The mounting holes for the vent align it, so there is no way to offset it upward to fill the void.

How can they lose the "recipe" from 1 dash to the next?

Really upsetting I'll have to buy more VIN rivets and do this all over again, but as stated, it's going to really annoy me every time I'm driving the car and look over at it.

This is a 74 OEM dash with vents. I took this dash out of a parts cars just to get the two dash vents for my gold 71. They were in perfect condition and I got them installed in my 71 today in perfect condition.

Best picture I could find of the UR dash with the vents installed. It's about the same as OEM. None are perfect I don't think?
