We have had some failures with GRP. They cut the bearing tag slot to deep and they crack from there to bolt hole. I think this has been corrected but not totally sure. Other wise we loike them alot. Never had a problem with B. M. rods, and no we do not loosen them over winter.

I've been using Howards rods for the past 10 years with no issues--I do only throttle-stop racing, and the engine never sees more than 7000 RPM, so they last almost forever.

BME all the way. I installed a set in a 572" (4.5" stroke) 1800 HP blown HEMI, with 2.2 journals, and they cleared the cam in a non-raised block.

I have been using GRP for years and no issues. The last set in my b1 had 223 passes on them and they checked fine. My current set have 309 passes on them and we will put another 50 or so on them. Never had a failure and the bearings have always looked new. Of course this with only 1100hp. Fwiw I used MGP's in the pro stock motor with no issues either. Wont use anything else

Both BME and GRP are very good. I have used both.
Have made over 600 runs with BME stuff, never a failure.

You may also want to look at these too. I know several guys who use and swear by them.

I've used GRP and BME. I prefer GRP, but never had a failure with either.

I use BME. Very happy with them. I will say that BME's customer service is the finest I've ever received in all my racing purchases. And those who know me, I've been around quite a while. Bill is great to work with..

They even treated me like a human being when I called and asked rookie questions about running aluminum rods

I use R&R Billet rods. Same rod most of the blown alky guys run. I have a set of brand new 7.100 rods, for a 2.200 crank pin and .990 pins that a customer ordered and did not take. They also have the L-19 bolt upgrade. Will sell for my cost.

A Little off topic but what about these rods for occasional street use(cruise nite)?

R&R is a good rod too. We have used them in a couple of customer builds. Good price point too

I talked with GRP on that topic. It depends on the rods. In my case they said with the pro series they don't worry about street miles one bit.

GRP here.. had them checked out when bought and they
checked out dead on to the spec sheet... I ended up
selling that whole engine to a local buddy
