Ok throwing out ideas tonight with dad on his 72 cuda we are building. He can buy a complete 5.7 through his dealership. He and I have never wired up one before so I'm kinda skiddish. He threw out an idea of going with one of the dual 4 intakes. In doing so does anyone know the height of a 5.7? Are they taller than a 340? If we went with a dual 4 set up what other wiring would be needed on 5.7? Naturally I know we will need different motor mounts. The 5.7 he can buy is complete top to pan with exhaust manifolds. It's a brand new one. Was thinking we could sell off the fuel injection stuff to off set the carb related items. Basically he's wanting to do something different. My main concern is the cars all painted so worried about hood clearance issues.
Thanks Corey

So do you wire engine up seperatly and use original wires for rest of car? How does it hook into the ignition switch? Did you have to run an electric fuel pump? Was it in the tank or exturnal? How about the tranny did you have to wire that up?

Yes you wire up the engine and use the rest of the original wires. The harness is wired for the ignition switch and instruments. It is also wired for an electric fuel pump. It also has it's own fuse panel for the engine electronics. Since I used the transmission that came with the 5.7 my harness came wired for the transmission. If you use a 727 behind your setup you won't need the transmission wires. I used the fuel tank and fuel pump from the donor truck, so it is in tank. The harness will allow you to use either an external or internal pump. Check Hotwire out here. http://www.hotwireauto.com/?page=sales-dcx Give them a call, they are very helpful and will take the time to answer all you question. Great guys to work with. One more thing, all the connectors and wires are labeled so installation is dirt simple.

Thanks I'll check that out. I know the fuel injection would be nice to drive but dads also thinking the dual 4 would be a cool factor item. He will never drive it cross country. Probably longest would be 5-6 hour drive one way if that.

you will not get much out of the stock fuel injection stuff,as mentioned spend the money with Hotwire and have them build you a plug and play harness.
who is that guy?

I don't know what this 2x4 intake looks like but if it's a single plane you could have injector bungs installed in the runners and run dual throttle bodies.
Cake and eat it too.

Yes it is a new one. I believe it's a replacement for trucks. I'm figuring the oil pans gotta be changed out. Any ideas if pick up tubes are same or need to be changed like you would from sat a 360 truck to car 360?

Just talked to hot wire. Sounds like the harness would be like 995.00. Depending on what tranny n year engine it's depends on computer programming cost. Said he needs to buy from o2 sensors and gas pedel. Said they use factory switch but has to put like a push button on dash to push after switch is turned on. What has anyone done for a pedel?

Call these guys, they sell a 5.7 Hemi engine management kit that has everything you will need including the drive by wire accelerator paddle. They use the Hotwire harness. They are also great guys to work with and will answer all your questions.
