Hey guys I finally picked a roller cam for my 440. Bullet is grinding me and cam so i need to collect the other parts for the conversion.

What timing chain do you guy recommend?

Do i need to replace or beef up my stock cover for the roller cam button?

Any advice on a cam button? Steel vs Nylon?

Last question I am running a mech fuel pump do i need to change the fuel pushrod?

Thanks

Brad

JP Performance out of Australia make a really nice billet set with 9 keyways in the lower sprocket and thrust bearing behind the top sprocket. You can also order undersize sets if the block's been line bored/honed. They're available from a few suppliers in the US. Check the out on the web.

Beef up at a minimum but a cast cover works nicely. The Indy cover doesn't fit under a stock pump. There is a cast one sold by a few different outfits that is really nice. Muscle Motors carries them. To use it you will need to trim the oil slinger so it becomes just a spacer.

Doesn't matter, none will fit right anyway!! I used the steel one with bearings. With my cover I needed a thicker cover gasket and a .010" shim behind the button to get the clearance I was after (very little with a roller button!). Avoid aluminum buttons like the plague - they wear and you'll have little aluminum shavings in your motor.

The billet cover I make fits under a standard aluminum water pump housing. And the cam button I make fits out of the box. It also works with a stock oil slinger.
