It's a long ways away, but its a long snowy winter.

Aug 8-10 2014

2014 Mopar Nationals Stickshift Challenge

Winner $1000
R/U $400
Semis $100

$100 to the driver if there is a factory trans car in the final.

There will be t shirts like last year, with pockets-for the old guys. Also rewards for best RT and I'm thinking maybe a bounty sticker as well.

The Nats site isnt updated yet, or really at all for any of the 2014 event. Just know the race will happen on Saturday as always, with the same rules as years past.

Im also in talks for some sponsor help so there may be more goodies down the pipeline, or higher payouts. I'd like to pay back a little farther.

Hopefully you can make it, have fun, lie about how good you shift, and keep your timeslips close so no one knows your real R/T

will be there! Good job Andre

So, tell me, who can race with the stick shift class, and who can't?

I"m hoping to be there again this year. It's always a blast to race with other stick cars. Great bunch of people for sure. Thanks again Andre for all you have done.

The last time I said I was going to come and race the stick class at the Nationals I had an unfortunate meeting with a deer while riding my motorcycle, at 75mph! It hurt a bit.

I am divorcing the lieing, cheating, [Edited by Moparts - Family Friendly Site - Keep it clean] I was dumb enough to marry so my money situation is in a state of chaos right now. If I have the cash I want to be there. I will be the slowest car in the class probably but I do not care. This will be fun.

Any mopar bodied/power contraption you want to bring. It can be a new challenger with a 6 speed, an early 90's Daytona, 5spd Dakota, or a 70 Cuda with a clutchless liberty.

Last year we had a low 10 full out race car with a Jerico running a very nice street cuda that I think dialed 13.50 area.

Just bring it and have fun.

Although ladder bar blue cudas with drivers with white helmets are frowned upon!!!

I try to get out and they keep pulling me back in Norwalk was fun even with the demise of my clutch disc in round 2 last year.
My car is all apart now "de-tuning" it for easier street driving but I'm still not afraid to whoop on a street HEMI transmission

I have never, ever been to the 'Nats but this sure sounds like a fun class for me and my 340 4-speed Dart. Hmmm....

Should be fun. Thanks Andre for your efforts in putting it together. Be sure to get the word out on the sponsor, so we can get them some advertising for the $$$ that they put up.

Found out my car was slipping the used street clutch all last year. So I've got a new McLeod BB/Long setup in it and I'm breaking it in throughout the winter here (when the roads are clean). Can't wait to hit it hard!

Looking forward to running with all of you---even Greg---- again.

Just an update.
Race will again be brought on by:
Dave Irwin Racing Engines

Payout
Winner $1000
Runner Up $400
Semis $100

The R/U and semis got a bump in pay. I still think 1k is good for the winner. Working on other goodies but totally my fault. A lot of sponsors set up their budgets around last fall so I'm kinda late to the game.

Should still be fun.
Andre

Some more awesome news! Brewer's Performance will be coming on board. One of the best and most comprehensive 4 speed resources for us Mopar guys is offering up:

$500 Winner
$250 R/U

Gift certificates good towards the use of McCleod products through them. So anything from needing a new street clutch for your resto or new updated goodies for the racecar. Like years past they'll be in the swap meet area too, so be sure to swing by and say thanks.

www.BrewersPerformance.com

That brings total cash/prizes to $2450 for the Stickshift challenge.

Thank you!

That's great news Andre. Hopefully this will cause us to have a large turnout. (We ALWAYS put on a great show, no matter the size of the field)

Pre-registration is up. New website too, pretty nice. Take note entries are cheaper if sent in before June 30th.

It's pretty much the same as years past. I think this year, I'm only going to be there for the competition on Saturday only. I really don't need the test and tune on Friday and we usually leave to come home Sunday morning. I've got to watch every penny anymore. It seems like there is more going out than coming in. See you UMTR guys the end of May at Quaker City.

I will try to bring my ratty stick car out and bring up the rear. At this rate, it may be the first weekend it sees a lot of use. Why not break it in good?

Looking forward to season #2 with the new ride. Got 25 years of automatic racing to un-learn before I can even begin to feel comfortable using the 3rd pedal.

Need to get some more seat time before this year's Nats so I don't go .004 red in the semi's and miss a chance to race my brother in the finals. Darn red lights!
