I can't figure out what vehicle came with what shifter. My first Charger (73 or 74) had a T handle, but I pulled a console and shifter out of another 73 or 74 Charger in a junk yard and it had the ball. So I thought the ball might originate in an E-body, but look up pics and I get both handles there, too. So what's correct or is there no rhyme or reason?

I'm probably wrong, but EARLY E-bodies got a chrome metal shifter handle being replaced shortly thereafter with the woodgrain ball. '71 thru most of '74 got the T-handle, but sometime in '74 they went BACK to the woodgrain ball either due to complaints over the T-handles breaking or they simply ran out of T-handles and went back to using whatever remaining stock of woodgrain balls.

Pretty sure all 3rd gen chargers came with the T-handle, only E-bodies came with the ball... someone probably swapped the one in the junkyard
