I bought a set of reman 302 heads, for my 273 with flat top pistons. Am planning to install a Summit cam K6900 204/214 .421-.444 LSA 112
Will the stock ( 1988 318 "302" heads) springs be OK to use. This will be a driver/ no race usage. Rarely drive over 4000 rpm.

FWIW I had the summit .441 lift cam in my 70 coronet w/ stock 318 20 years ago. the valves would float at 6000 rpm. for about $60 I would put the comp cams 901 springs in it.

The days of 6000 rpm are long behind me.

Anyone else ? Is this a good cam for a 273 low rpm driver ?

I would replace the exaust rotators/short spring with some stock intake retainers/springs just to be on the safe side of retainer to valve guide clearance. it will have a shorter spring on the exhaust and reduces lift that can be used.

I ran that cam in a couple 318 with stock springs or the comp 901-16 as replacments.

the cam should be stock idle smooth and done around 5500 mark IIRC.

my lunati voodoo roller cam and the hughes whiplash roller cam both are in #302 headed 318s with comp 901s and 16 stock intake retainers/stock seals.

both have .485-.487 lift with no machine work neede on the valve guids or seals.

if you chack and have the clearance you could stay with the rotators if you would rather have them...

the old skool hipo 273 solid lifter cam with .500/.500 lift are awsome in a 318 if you wanted a solid lifter hipo 273 engine
