I know on my charger, the upper door frame plugs that covered the access holes for the vent window frame bolts were interior colored plastic. On our mostly unrestored 69 GTX vert, the plugs were black plastic while the interior is the T7 bronze color. Granted, everything with the interior of the car was all original with the exception of the seat covers and carpeting which were replaced due to fading. I would like to put the plugs back in the correct color if they are indeed supposed to be interior color and not black. Can anyone shed some light on what would be correct?

I was thinking they were matched to the color of the interior but with 44 years on the car, its hard to tell if they were changed out or not. With how badly faded the sun visors were, I could see how the plastic would have dried out and became brittle and broke and then replaced with the generic black plugs.

Just so we are talking about the same plastic plugs..... The ones closest to the hinges.

I looked into this when I was doing my 'Bee and ascertained they should be interior colored (F8) in my case. Couldn't find a source so I had to use black ones. Perhaps the plugs weren't available in every color. ...but green ones were for sure Dave

Doesn't seem to be anyone out there who sells the colored plastic plugs. They only seem to be available in black and then you have to paint to match which I think the colored plastic was never a perfect match to the interior paint anyways.

Dave,
We are lucky enough to still have the small rubber plugs that go in the hole in the middle of the upper door frame and they are in perfect shape. Quite possibly due to different plastic/rubber make up as they seem to be more of a rubber plug than a plastic plug.

The plugs don't show, so what factory assembler would really care? The door bumpers are all black. And you have black drain plugs in the trunk floors as well. Black goes with everything.
It was all a plot to make it more difficult for us to restore these cars 40 years later...
Dave
yeh, ain't that the truth!
