AtomicDog OP super stock A Joined: Jan 2003 Posts: 859 VA	I'm seriously considering swapping to 4.10 ring and pinions in my '96 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 Dana 60 front and rear axles, since I've installed 285/75/16 tires. Does the front axle require reverse rotation gears? Just curious if the front and rear Dana 60s use the same gear set part numbers?

340SHORTY Truck Nut Joined: Aug 2003 Posts: 12,291 Kent, Wa	reverse rotation gears are used in Hi Pinion diffs. You may need what is called thick gears or new carriers for the 4.10 gears. I am truckless..

AtomicDog OP super stock A Joined: Jan 2003 Posts: 859 VA	I do believe the carriers I have will handle 4.10 gears (4.10 and lower numerically) without the need to swap them. Just not sure about the gears needed front and rear - has anyone done this swap on the late model Dana 60's front and rear?

Oh, I needed to use a case spreader to get the carrier out of the front diff too. One of the only times I've needed to use one of those, lol. J_BODY I Live Here J Joined: May 2003 Posts: 13,185 aZLiViN	I had 4.10 gears in my 01 when I bought it.... HATED those things! to many r's going down the highway. Swapped for 3.55's and was mucho happier. I do still run the 265 series tires as I want towing stability.... and my 01 has the power to work with the 3.5 gear
