The RicerCuda only has the OE lap belt- not safe at any speed and no good for any track time. I'm looking for some suggestions for something safer and track friendly. What's everyone got?

Rule #1, Using any race style shoulder harness REQUIRES use of a misnamed submarine belt, always.
Rule #2, Any quality belt system, WITHOUT a quality and securely mounted seat, is almost useless.

FWIW

Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.

Steve, are those what you have in the car? One of those would be great for the PS. I was thinking more along the lines of this for the driver's side. I've experienced a serious rollover in my Dad's sand rail and that 5pnt harness kept me alive. The seat is either going to the fixed back Corbeau or one of the ProCar seats.

No. I haven't used them.

I have driven a car with the XV seatbelts and those were fine. Those are very expensive. Those can be bought under different names, they are just rebadged "XV".

The seatbeltplus stuff seems to be the same if you get certain models. They get a lot for thier "Mopar" belt sets. Seems like there basic $68/ea setup with an shoulder extender that lowers the shoulder hook point.

I thought I had a link to another company that has those 3 point belts cheaper than seatbeltsplus? Can't find my link. Seems like a lot of places reselling the same belts.

Did you guys go with the 8" or 12" bucket seat end sleeve.

Thanks for pointing out the Van Seats. I was looking if they sold the "sash guide" seperate to add thier regular $69 seat sets.

So am I missing some difference between this Van seat belt kit and these "custom Mopar" seat belt kits:

$265/pr for this: http://www.seatbeltsplus.com/product/3-6467-A-Body2BU.html

VS.

$150/pr ($74.95ea) for this: http://wescoperformance.stores.yahoo.net/long-sash-seat-belt-chrome.html

I ordered a set of retractable belts from here. Just ordered two weeks ago and have not received them yet but the gentleman on the phone was very knowledgeable and kind. $280 I think was the total +or- a few bucks for front and rears for my 70 GTX

I'm pretty sure I went with the shorter seat buckles.

I have a question about installation for you guys who are using these. From the pictures of the retractable shoulder belts, it looks like you would end up with a twist in one end of the belt. Does the end without the mechanism go under the piece with the retracting mechanism or to a different attaching point? If it goes under the piece with the retractor, wouldn't it be twisted one half turn? Anyone got any pictures of these installed?

So I went about this a little differently. I have a 67 barracuda fastback, and there are no provisions for a shoulder belt in the roof structure. I installed a set of seats out of a 2004 BMW M3 convertible. They have the shoulder belt integrated into the seat, they flip forward to allow back seat access and they have very good bolstering for staying in the seat during hard cornering. To accomodate the additional loading from the seat belt and to have a solid "butt report", I made a frame under the car with 2" C-channel and welded that to the subframe connectors. The seat bolts thru the floor to the frame with 5 grade 8 bolts per side, the extra bolt is under the rear corner that the shoulder belt is anchored at. The downside to all of this is that the seats themselves are extremely heavy, and then the frame under the car is additional weight, but this is a compromise I am happy to live with. When I bought my car it didn't have any seats so I would have had to purchase seats anyway. I paid $400 for the seats, an additional $200 for shipping them and roughly $35 for the steel and hardware for the frame under the car
