I looked for other posts and didn't find what I was looking for. Does anybody have any insight into the AR engineering kit using the Wilwood Dynapro calipers? it appears they have a weather seal so it could be used more regularly. I am looking for something better than stock for occasional road race duty.

i am negotiable with how much to spend, the problem is that I am trying to find something to fit in a set of 15" cop car rims which tends to limit options severely. I may need to upgrade to a bigger wheel.

Just my $.02.

The standard heavy duty kit is more than enough brake for most applications. I know people with some seriously fast cars running the standard kit.

when you say standard heavy duty kit are you talking just running 11.75" rotors and factory calipers?

When I was a retailer, I sold several ARE Wilwood kits and feedback from those I spoke to again was positive. Tom Quad on here uses them and likes them.

The limit you have with 15" wheels is the impediment with rotor size and ultimately leverage. The biggest you can go with 15" rims is a 12.19 kit, and that is iffy. The 11.75 is a pretty reliable fit.

But using just the Wilwood calipers do gain you a couple of things. First is reduction in weight of 6# per wheel, but most importatnly, you gain a large selection of pad compounds to match the drving you are doing for improved fade resistance.

There's been way too much BS bounced around about the weather seal and Wilwood brakes. Unless you drive in the snow with salt on the road it's not worth worrying about. NOBODY drives a nice classic Mopar in those conditions, so let the myth die. There are thousands of Wilwood calipers on the road and zero reported problems due to the "weather seal" Internet hype. Why not call Wilwood and ask them about it? As soon as they stop laughing, they will tell you the same thing.

Thats very interesting you say that. The Dynalite caliper is definitely easier on the wallet than the dynapro. Is there any other difference other than the seals...not talking fit, but piston size etc?

The pad for the dynalite is much thinner than the dynapro and reported only last for about 10k miles on the street.

Wilwood Calipers are a great value. Lot's of laps and street miles with never a problem using the dynalites. Far superior than the cave man stock stuff.

Pads will last longer than than 10000 miles unless there are laps around the track. There are better compounds than the one that usually comes with the calipers.
These work really well.
